International students
If your study permit may not arrive in time, contact International Admissions (undergraduate) or the Faculty of Graduate Studies to ask about a possible enrollment deferral. If you request an enrollment deferral, you must withdraw from your current term courses before the payment deadline to avoid being charged tuition.

Before making a payment, check your student account through Dal Online to see your current balance, payment history, and account activity by term.

- Payments can take 2–3 business days to appear on your student account
- Students making online banking payments should ensure the payment has been completed in accordance with their bank and initiated early enough to account for the 2 to 3 business day delay.

Other payment methods
Third-party sponsorship
If your fees are paid by a sponsor (a parent or legal guardian is not considered a sponsor):
- Complete the Third Party Billing Form [PDF – 118 KB]
- Submit it to Student Accounts before each term’s deadline
Student Accounts will then invoice the sponsor for the tuition and fees noted on the form. All fees covered by the sponsor must be outlined in the form. These may include:
- Tuition
- Mandatory fees (e.g. UPass, student society, student union fees)
- Health insurance
- Optional fees (e.g housing, meal plan)
Important: You are responsible for fees that are not paid by your sponsor, and late fees will apply after the deadline.

Email communication
Your dal.ca email is your official means of communication for Dalhousie academic and administrative purposes. This is the only email account that will be used for communicating with you regarding all academic and administrative matters, including, statements, notices, and payment reminders.
Payment via an unverified or unrecognized source
If you have submitted a payment using unverified or non-recognized sources—those not in accordance with Dalhousie’s official payment methods — you assume full responsibility and risk associated with such transactions.

Overpayments
Money transferred to a student’s account should not to exceed the annual charges associated with tuition and fees.
Overpayments will not be refunded to the student.
Funding for off-campus and personal expenses is to be sent directly to the student.
Overpayment on a student's account will be held on the account for up to one academic year for future fees.
Student privacy
Dalhousie considers your student account to be your personal information. This means your account details can’t be shared with parents or others, even if they are helping you pay your tuition.
If you want someone else to access your information, you’ll need to give permission by requesting authorization.
