The Dalhousie Student Leadership Academy develops exemplary leaders through workshops, hands-on learning, and mentorship opportunities. Whether you are exploring your leadership goals or are already a student leader, you can learn how to create change in your community.
The Impact Awards recognize outstanding individuals and student groups that impact our community, and demonstrate leadership, civic engagement, and exemplary contributions to the Dal community and beyond. Individual award categories include academic life, student life and community service, and residence life.
The Excellence in Student Leadership Awards are unique to students enrolled in programs on the Agricultural Campus. They recognize outstanding students who demonstrate leadership, civic engagement, and exemplary contributions to the Truro Campus and beyond. Individual award categories include global citizenship, advocacy, and wellbeing.
The Board of Governors’ Awards are Dalhousie’s top student life awards that celebrate exceptional extracurricular contributions or leadership in such areas as university governance, development of a sense of community on campus, community service, internationalizing the campus, visual or performing arts, minority access, and athletics.
The President’s EDIA Awards recognize the outstanding efforts by our students in advancing equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility at Dalhousie.
With such a diverse student population and academic programs, there is always something happening on each of our campuses. Whether it's through our student associations or our entertainment, sports, and recreation activities, there are tons of ways to get involved!
The Dalhousie Student Union (DSU) advocates for student rights and builds community on campus with events throughout the year. It also runs The Grawood café and eatery on Studley Campus and the T Room on Sexton Campus. Whether through a part-time job or volunteer opportunity, there are many ways to get involved with the DSU during your time at Dal.
The Dalhousie Agricultural Students’ Association (DASA) represents all students studying on the Agricultural Campus and organizes events, clubs, groups, and committees to improve student life on campus. It also runs the campus pub, The Barn.
The Dalhousie Arts Centre in Halifax is home to the Rebecca Cohn Auditorium, Sir James Dunn Theatre, Joseph Strug Concert Hall, and Dalhousie Art Gallery. Whether it’s student productions from the Fountain School of Performing Arts, live musical acts from around the world, or rotating art exhibits, there’s something for everyone at the Arts Centre.
Whether you’re a fitness fanatic, want to play a competitive non-varsity sport, or looking to play some fun intramurals, Dal’s Athletics and Recreation has something for you. Our largest athletic facility, Dalplex, is in Halifax on Studley Campus, and Sexton Gym is down the road on Sexton Campus. In Truro, the Langille Athletic Centre has everything you need to stay active.
A great way to get involved and show your Dal spirit is by going to a varsity game or meet and cheering on the Tigers in Halifax or Rams in Truro. Don’t forget to pick up your black and gold gear before you go!
There are over 300 official student societies and clubs ratified through the Dalhousie Student Union (DSU) that cater to countless demographics, pastimes, interests, and causes. There are also societies in our faculties and academic programs. Can’t find one that suits your unique tastes? Why not start one up!
The DalU mobile app and web portal has discussion boards for students, including: main student feeds; buy, rent, and sell; lost and found; and ones for residence and academic programs. Use the events calendars to find out what's happening on campus. Use the private messaging to connect with other Dal students. And check up on your course schedule and marks!
