Developing our strategic plan
The strategic framework is:
- Based on data, consultation, and building on areas of strength and influence
- Designed with a long-term horizon
- Focused on people and place, aiming to enhance impact locally in Nova Scotia and to build from that foundation to global distinction
- Intended as a guiding framework for Faculties and Units
- Less prescriptive than a traditional strategic plan, seeking to be more ambition- and curiosity-driven
Who we engaged
- External community and industry partners
- Faculty and staff
- Student leaders
- Board of Governors
- Senate
- Alumni
- Dalhousie Advisory Committee
- Senior university leaders
Why this framework, and why now?
- Articulates our enduring purpose and direction
- Reflects who we are, where we are rooted, and how we create public value
- Designed as a long‑term compass — not a short‑term operating plan
- Provides a shared foundation for decisions, priorities, and alignment across the university.
Implementation, stewardship and reporting
This strategic framework does not have a defined timeline. It is intended to serve as a living document. Changes to the narrative, including editorial updates and refinements to language, may be made to ensure the framework remains clear, current, and responsive to emerging opportunities and challenges, provided that the core strategic direction approved by the Board is not materially altered.
