Plant Science prepares you for careers across agriculture, food production, and environmental sectors. The program develops scientific, analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills that can be applied in a variety of careers.
Your training will provide experience for a diverse job market, such as positions in provincial and federal government service agencies and research centers, crop specialist services, urban agriculture and community organizations, agribusiness, consulting, farming, processing, or marketing.
What you will learn

If you’re interested in research or further studies at the graduate level, you can pursue the honours stream. Honours students complete a research project and on a topic of their choice under the supervision of a faculty. Many researchers hire summer students to support their research program.

Minimum admission requirements
To be considered for admission to this program, you must meet minimum academic criteria:
- Completion of secondary school (Grade 12)
- Achievement of the minimum average for your program of choice.
- Completion of Grade 12 English (or equivalent course).
Admission to many Dalhousie programs is competitive. This means that meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee admission.

*If you don't have the appropriate pre-calculus math class, but are otherwise qualified, you may be admitted on the condition that you complete a Grade 12 pre-calculus equivalent upgrading course before you arrive at Dalhousie.
