Programs

Are you interested in solving complex global issues like food security and environmental sustainability? Graduate career-ready with Dalhousie’s specialized courses in Plant and Environmental Sciences.

Our campus provides students with rich, on-campus learning opportunities to gain real-world experience and hands-on skills and knowledge in outdoor classrooms, fields, gardens, greenhouses and lab facilities.

Research

We work with industry, government, and academic and research institutions — both nationally and internationally — to carry out innovative research in agriculture, plants, the environment, and related fields.

Our research is helping to innovate new technologies for environmental sustainability, rural growth, and bio-resource innovation in support of the agri-food and aquaculture industries.

Faculty and staff

Our faculty members are recognized around the world as leaders in research and experts in their field. Most of our professors and instructors are actively involved in research, giving you the opportunity to learn from current observations and relevant findings. In addition, our classes are small enough that you can have personalized interaction and instruction with faculty.

Balancing Boots and Books: Dr. Jolene Vermeulen’s life as a vet, farmer, and educator

Jolene graduated from NSAC with a BSc (Agr) in 2010, after which she completed an MSc in animal behaviour and welfare at the University of Guelph. She graduated from the Atlantic Veterinary College in 2019 with her diploma in veterinary medicine.
