The program is delivered in person in Halifax and is designed for students who want focused, graduate‑level training in epidemiology and research methods.

Course options
- Core courses in epidemiology and biostatistics.
- Elective course options in secondary data analysis, advanced statistical methods, infectious diseases, global health, clinical epidemiology, and evidence synthesis.
All graduate programs at Dalhousie are collaboratively delivered by a home Faculty and the Faculty of Graduate Studies.
Admission requirements
You'll need to meet the Faculty of Graduate Studies minimum requirements as well as any program-specific admission requirements before you can apply.
The next deadline to apply for this program is November 1 of the year prior to anticipated admission for those who wish to be considered for Dalhousie University scholarships and other external funding opportunities.
January 31 is the deadline for all other completed applications.
Program-specific requirements
This program requires you to meet the following criteria:
- An honours undergraduate degree or equivalent.
- An academic background appropriate for epidemiology or applied health research.
Proof of English language competency if the first language is not English. (TOEFL iBT 100; IELTS 7.5; EAP2 A)

While you are not required to identify a supervisor prior to applying to the program, applicants are encouraged to review faculty members’ research interests for alignment with their own.
As part of your application, you should plan to include:
- Official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions
- Reference letter
- A one-page "personal statement" that includes
- Your professional interests and career objectivs
- Your research interests related to the MSc program in Epidemiology and Applied Health Research
- A one-page "quantitative training and experience" document that includes
- Description of courses in statistics or other quantitative courses
- Any practical experience with quantitative analyses
- If applicable, list any relevant statistics courses that are shown on your university transcripts, when you took each course (year and term) and the general topics that were covered.
- If applicable, provide a concise description of the types of statistical analyses that you have conducted in the past two years.
