Dalhousie’s affordable family housing

Peter Green Hall (PGH) is a 112-unit apartment building owned by Dalhousie University, located at 1094 Wellington Street, Halifax.

The building offers affordable apartments for Dalhousie students with spouses or families enrolled full-time on our Halifax campuses. 

Beyond providing housing, Peter Green Hall offers students and their families from across the world a welcoming community atmosphere to make them feel at home and allow their families to thrive while continuing to learn and further their own education.

Rental costs

All units include a complete set of kitchen appliances, heat, hot water, and electricity. Units are leased unfurnished.

Eligibility

 

Applicants must be a full-time student at Dalhousie University, and must be married and residing with their spouse in Halifax or have a child or children residing with them.

 

Applicants must provide the following:

  • Proof of marriage (marriage certificate) or proof of custody (for single parents)
  • Proof of full-time student status (confirmation of enrollment for current term)

How to apply

Contact Peter Green Hall at pgh@dal.ca to have an application package forwarded to you or fill out the online application form and be added to the waitlist.

Applicants must submit a marriage or domestic partnership certificate, or full custody agreement and proof of full-time student status at Dalhousie University with a completed application form.

After credit and reference checks, successful applicants are placed on the waiting list for an apartment on a first come, first serve basis.

Students can expect to wait 6-12 months or longer to be offered a unit.

Peter Green Hall Childcare Centre (PGHCC)

Peter Green Hall is the home of the Peter Green Hall Children's Centre (PGHCC).

PGHCC is a non-profit childcare centre dedicated to the education and care of young children. PGHCC provides early learning and care to children aged 4 months to 10 years.  Childcare is offered to the surrounding community with priority given to PGH residents.
