How your tuition is calculated

Program-based and course-based tuition and fees

Graduate programs use one of two tuition structures:

  • Program-based tuition and fee: A flat rate charged each term.
  • Course-based fee: Tuition is charged for each course you take.

Your program determines which structure applies.

International students

If you are an international student in a master’s program, you may be charged an additional international tuition fee based on your program and year of study. See the tuition and fee schedule for details to determine whether you will be enrolled as a thesis, thesis option, or non-thesis student.

PhD students are not charged international tuition fees. Refer to the PhD fee schedule for an estimate.

Additional fees

In addition to tuition, you may be charged other fees, including:

 

  • Auxiliary fees: Cover program-specific costs including labs, equipment, materials, or placements.
  • Society fees: Support student societies.
  • Mandatory incidental fees: Cover services, including health insurance, facilities, and transit passes. You may be able to opt out of some student fees.

Your total tuition amount

Your total tuition depends on several factors, including:

  • Whether you are a domestic or international student
  • Whether you study full-time or part-time
  • Your program of study
  • Any additional or optional fees

Your final amount is confirmed after you complete registration.

Once your fees are assessed, you can view your full balance in your student account.
