Respiratory physiology

A breath of fresh air

A sound knowledge of respiratory physiology is key to developing a thorough understanding of one of the most basic functions of life: breathing. Currently, our team is studying:

  • molecular & functional studies of the Cystic Fibrosis Transmembrane Conductance Regulator (CFTR) chloride channel
  • oxidant stress and gene expression during airway inflammation

  • epithelial transport in cystic fibrosis
  • role of neuropeptide VIP in respiratory diseases
  • drug development for the treatement of cystic fibrosis (industry partnership)
