Our partners

The Office of Sustainability works with many campus and community partners to achieve its objectives. By ourselves we are one, together we are a community. The Office of Sustainability would not be able to achieve many of its goals without the generous support of its community and governmental partners.

Strategic Planning and Reporting

AASHE membership 

Dalhousie is a member of AASHE (Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education), an association of colleges and universities that are working to create a sustainable future.

STARS participation

Dalhousie University is a registered participant in STARS (Sustainability, Tracking, Assessment & Rating System). STARS is administered by AASHE (Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education). 

AASHE’s STARS program involves publicly reporting comprehensive information related to a college or university’s sustainability performance. Dalhousie is a Charter participant submitting the first STARS report in 2011, where a silver rating was achieved. In January 2015, the Version 2.0 STARS report was submitted and in April 2018 Version 2.1. Both received a Gold rating. In September 2021, Dalhousie submitted to Version 2.2  and received a Gold rating. Ratings are valid for three years. The following documents were included as part of the Version 2.2 submission:

 

Advisory council on sustainability

The President’s Advisory Council on Sustainability (PACS) and related subcommittees provides an ongoing forum for sustainability discussions at the university. The Council includes membership from faculties, departments, student organizations, and community members. 

The Agricultural Campus has a Sustainability Committee that reports to PACS. There are sub-committees of PACS that focus on a topic during a certain period of time.
