Whereas Dalhousie University is committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion as principles of excellence in learning, research, teaching and service;
Whereas Dalhousie University recognizes African Nova Scotians as a distinct people and acknowledges how they have shaped this province and University over centuries;
Whereas Dalhousie University celebrates the contributions of all people of African descent and values their integral role; and
Whereas Dalhousie University understands that we must learn from our past in order to create a truly equitable institution today and for future generations:
I do hereby proclaim the United Nations International Decade for People of African Descent at Dalhousie University and will take action to implement the Decade themes of recognition, justice, and development.
