Academic and Student Affairs Committee

The Academic and Student Affairs Committee supports the University in achieving its strategic priorities in the areas of teaching, learning and research, to the extent that these are board-related areas. The Committee aims to assist the Board of Governors in its oversight of the effectiveness of specifically designated areas of academic affairs, including academic appointments, and of student affairs, including student enrolment, engagement and experience.

Capital Projects and Facilities Committee

The mandate of the Capital Projects and Facilities Committee assists the Board of Governors in its oversight of the effectiveness of the management and development of the real property and physical infrastructure of the University. The Committee generally reviews and recommends to the Board for approval decision items, but has the authority to request any investigation and/or the services of professional advisors appropriate to fulfilling its responsibilities.

Community Affairs Committee

The Community Affairs Committee assists the Board of Governors in its oversight of the effectiveness of community, stakeholder and public engagement, relationships and affairs, social and environmental responsibility, fund raising, and in the University achieving its strategic priorities in the areas of service, partnership and reputation.

Executive Committee

The Executive Committee is responsible for exercising and discharging all the rights, powers, privileges and functions of the board in the intervals between meetings of the board.

Finance, Audit, Investment and Risk Committee

The Finance, Audit, Investment and Risk Committee assists the Board of Governors in its oversight of the effectiveness of the University’s financial reporting process to gain reasonable assurance in the reliability of financial reports; internal control and risk management systems; independent audit process including the internal audit function and recommending the appointment and assessing the performance of the external auditors; investment of University funds in accordance with Board-approved policies; ability to sustain the pension plan; budgeting and financial plans; compliance with legal  regulatory and policy requirements; and achievement of its strategic direction priorities in relation to financial resources and related matters.

Governance and Human Resources Committee

The Governance and Human Resources Committee assists the Board of Governors in its oversight of the effectiveness of (1) corporate governance, the Board, Board Committees and governors, (2) the President’s performance and relationship, (3) human resources policies and plans, (4) the Board renewal and appointments process, and (5) in the University achieving its strategic direction priority in the area of infrastructure and support with regard to human resources.
