Description

The MI/MPA combined degree is a 3 year full-time course of study leading to the degrees Master of Information (MI) and Master of Public Administration (MPA). A total of 27 courses is needed to complete the MI/MPA program: 12 half-credit MI courses (36 credit hours) and 15 half-credit MPA courses (45 credit hours).

Admissions

Separate application packages must be submitted to each department.

Notes:

  • Not all courses are offered every year. It is the students' responsibility to ensure they plan their schedule accordingly. Combined degree students are advised on an individual basis to assist with course selection.
  • View MI and MPA course descriptions and syllabi.
  • MGMT 5000: To be taken in the final year of the MI/MPA degree.
  • INFO 5570: To be taken in the final year of the MI/MPA degree.
  • INFO 0590 is optional.
  • PUAD 6855: PUAD 5201 and PUAD 5202 are required courses for entry into the internship (PUAD 6855) which takes place during the Spring/Summer term. Students will need to register for these courses during their first year of the MPA program.
  • Students may take electives outside SIM.
  • As indicated in section 5.1 of the Graduate Studies Calendar (under “Program Fee Programs”), combined degree students must register for REGN 9999 in every term to ensure fees are generated properly. This course is listed as “Registration Course-Graduate” in the Academic Timetable.
