What do I need to apply?
Admission to our Master of Information Management is competitive. Having the minimum requirements for our program does not, therefore, guarantee admission.
Criteria for Acceptance
Most successful applicants possess:
- at least five years of workplace experience and
- a four-year bachelor's degree with at least a second class standing (B average, 3.0 GPA) from a university recognized by the Senate of Dalhousie University.
We need at least two copies of the official transcripts of your academic record from the university or universities you have attended.
Our nationally renowned and respected School of Information Management recognizes the value of the work experience students bring to our Master of Information Management. That is why students in the MIM program need only 9 courses (36 credit hours) to obtain their degree, rather than the 48 credit hours required by similar on-campus degree programs.
Graduates of specific provincial (NS & ON) or territorial (NU) Leadership Development programs may be eligible for advanced placement towards the MIM degree.
Candidates with an outstanding record at the graduate or senior undergraduate levels in the subject areas covered by our curriculum may also apply for advanced placement.
We consider applications from people without a university degree on a case-by-case basis. Five to 10 years of relevant management experience may be acceptable. We will pay particular attention to skills and competencies relevant to advanced study in information management.
