Getting Ready for New to Dal ‑ AC Programming
Make sure you have everything you need to participate in New to Dal - AC programming to its fullest this winter!
1. Ensure you have set up your Dalhousie accounts and are checking your Dalhousie email regularly
Important information about New to Dal programming and your transition to Dal will come through your offical Dalhousie email account, so it's important to set it up now and check it regularly.
Not sure how to set up your accounts? Visit dal.ca/congratulations to lean how to activate your email. Please use your Dalhousie email account when registering for activities.
2. Check out your BrightSpace account
Brightspace s where you will access all your course information beginning the first day of classes on Tuesday, September 6th. While you are there, be sure to check out our helpful New to Dal videos for all the details and info you will need before arriving on campus. You will also want to visit the Student Online Interactive Lounge (SOIL) to stay connected with AC student activities and upcoming events.
3. Check out the schedule and plan your New to Dal - AC experience!
We will continue to update the schedule throughout the summer- keep checking back for more info.
This is a busy and exciting time for new students! We encourage you to get involved in as many New to Dal events and programs as possible. Along with all the important information you will gain and friends you will make, there will also be prize draws, chances to win Dal gear for participating, and so much more!
4. Register for New to Dal - AC activities!
Events are FREE and open to all new students attending the Truro Campus.
While there are no fees or costs to attend NTD - AC events, we do ask that you register if you plan to participate. Registration helps ensure we are fully prepared for each program and event!
A free bus service will be provided to transport students to off-site events, including the rugby exhibition game and Riverbreeze Corn Maze. If you plan to attend these events, register early to ensure we have a spot for you on the bus!
Also, be sure to download the Dal Mobile app, and bring your phone and DalCard with you when you attend events. We will be swiping student IDs, and using QR codes and the mobile app for students to check-in at NTD - AC events and programs. Each time you check-in for an event, you will be automatically entered to win exciting door prizes!
Registration is not required for winter NTD participation!
5. Set up your Microsoft Teams account and download Microsoft Office
As a Dalhousie student you have free access to these resources. Login to your account by visiting my.dal.ca.
Click the App Launcher (it looks like a waffle) in the top left-hand corner to access Office 365 and download Teams and other Office programs.
Use your Dalhousie NetID and password to access your student account.
6. Join the Incoming Class group!
This is a great way to meet your classmates, stay up to date with campus activities, and connect with upper year students.
Join the Incoming Truro Class of 2022-23 Group on the Dal Mobile App.
You can also find channels on the app for AC Residence, links for upcoming events, groups for clubs and societies, and other useful information!
