The Ecolympics is an annual competition in early February that runs for two weeks. Before the competition begins, the electricity (kWh) and water (liters) measurements are recorded during the baseline week in residences that have working utility meters. Each participating residence aims to reduce their electricity consumption and/or water as much as they can against their baseline. Part of the challenge is also to engage house members in events and to make personal commitments.
Winning residences are determined by reduction of electricity and/or water against their own baseline (70% of the points); number of residence members participating in events (15% of points –calculated based on a % of total house members); and the number of students signing up for commitments (15 % of points - calculated based on a % of total house members). Winners will receive prizes and the ecolympics trophy.
