International internships

Before taking up an internship with one of our Canada-based industrial partners, you’ll get the chance to spend up to a year working within a top team at one of the internationally recognized research centres and institutes within our global network of program partners.

From the Barcelona-based Institute of Photonic Sciences and London’s Imperial College to the CFD Research Corporation in Alabama, these centres of excellence will take your theoretical and experimental knowledge to the next level – and help you create a life-long global network.

Something for everyone

The following is simply a selection of the kind of research our program partners will expose you to:

•    Design, development and marketing of commercial optical devices

•    R&D and commercialization of photonic devices

•    Photonic engineering, technology development and product testing

•    Hardware design, data analysis and signal processing

•    Photonic systems engineering, product development and testing

•    Commercialization of innovative solar technologies

•    Photonic microelectro-mechanical systems (MEMS), plasmonic device development

•    Engineering simulations, innovative design in bio and energy

•    Theory, simulation, modeling, experimental methods and testing

•    Photonics technology development and device commercialization

•    Plasmonics and metamaterials – along with nanophotonic structures

•    Experimental methods of optical nanostructures

•    Theoretical aspects of semiconductor nanophotonic structures

•    Chemistry of nanomaterials and nanostructures – plus device design
