Message from the president

Dalhousie University was founded more than 200 years ago, and for two centuries we have been building our global reputation.

We know that global impact is only possible if it is built on the foundation of local relevance. A civic-minded university, we have utilized our local expertise and regional leadership to make our mark internationally in areas such as ocean research, vaccines, energy and agriculture, while simultaneously strengthening our community engagement.

The only U15 university in Atlantic Canada, we are singularly dedicated to teaching and student experience. Dalhousie’s students learn in an environment enriched by first-rate research and scholarship, and through extensive access to experiential learning opportunities, they also receive a relevant education that primes them for success after graduation.

It is through this background of regional leadership and service, dedication to our students, and unwavering commitment to academic and research excellence that we are surging ahead on the world stage.

I invite you to join me on this exciting journey.
