Orientation - Together@Dal: Grad Edition

Get introduced to the Dalhousie community

Each semester, the Faculty of Graduate Studies welcomes new students joining us from locations locally, nationally and around the world. To bring us all together we’ve created the Together@Dal: Grad Edition orientation program.

During orientation, you’ll have access to a series of online modules that you can explore at your own pace designed to introduce you to resources available to you at Dalhousie and equip you to start your degree program.

Starting your graduate program in May 2022?

If you will be entering your Dalhousie graduate program in May 2022, you should automatically be granted access to the Together@Dal: Grad Edition Brightspace page on April 18th at 9:00 a.m. Atlantic time. Upon signing in to Brightspace, look for the Together@Dal: Grad Edition course. If you don't see it, contact us at TogetherGrad@dal.ca with your NetID and we will help you get set up.

See below for a description of the program's four modules that you can explore at your own pace.

The four Together@Dal: Grad Edition modules are:

Module 1: What the Dal? (Release date: April 18, 2022)
Find out how to get involved in the Dalhousie community and discover the campus resources available to help you succeed.

Module 2: Thriving in Graduate School (Release date: April 18, 2022)
Learn how to stay motivated, resilient and confident when starting your program online.

Module 3: Relationship Building (Release date: May 2, 2022)
Nobody makes it through graduate school alone. Discover the importance of making social connections and identify tips to stay in touch with your peers, professors, and departmental staff.

Module 4: Creating a Graduate Student Game Plan (Release date: May 2, 2022)
Develop strategies to kick-start your graduate studies and build your skills through professional development.

Get recognized for your efforts

When you complete the reflection activities at the end of each of the four modules, the Together@Dal: Grad Edition program can be added to your Co-Curricular Record, a document that records your extra-curricular and volunteer activities.

We’re looking forward to getting started and welcoming you to our community. We are all in this Together@Dal!
