Graduated with a combined major in Economics and International Development Studies

Meghan Doiron – BA 2006 – graduated with a combined major in Economics and International Development Studies. Shortly thereafter, in August of 2008, she undertook a CIDA internship in the Brazilian Amazon working for a consortium of environmental research centers – The Amazon initiative. There she produced communications materials related to the ecosystem services valuation. This included the creation of a quarterly e-newsletter devoted to ecosystem services in Latin America, developed in partnership with three other formal professional networks: SinergiA. Upon completion of her internship she remained in Brazil working for The Amazon Initiative as a research assistant on a socioeconomic study related to climate change impacts on smallholder producers in the Amazon. This experience was the motivation for her to return to Canada in the spring of 2010 and pursue a Masters degree. In September 2010 Meghan began an MA program in Tropical Geography at McGill University where she will continue to pursue her interests in socioeconomic and environmental change issues affecting traditional populations in rural Amazonia.
