The Schulich School of Law community congratulates Associate Professor Elaine Gibson on receiving the Charles D. Gonthier Research Fellowship!
This October, Gibson will present the results from her research project, Competing Forces: Retention and Destruction of Personal Health Information in an Electronic World, at CIAJ’s Annual Conference.
About the Project
In an age where information is being converted to electronic form, Gibson’s paper highlights the difficulties that arise with the management of personal health information, especially privacy interests when dealing with retaining and destroying information. Gibson’s project will delve into the issues of finding a consistent and balanced approach between the positive aspects of data retention and privacy interest in destruction of personal information once it is no longer needed.
About the Award
Presented annually by the Canadian Institute for the Administration of Justice (CIAJ), the $7,500 award is selected by jury and given to an academic who will best research the CIAJ’s annual conference topic. This year, the conference will deal with Privacy in the Age of Information and will be held in St. John's, NL.
