The Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University has once again been recognized as one of the top 100 places in the world to study law in the latest edition of the Times Higher Education’s (THE) 2025 World University Rankings by Subject.
The THE rankings, one of the most-watched global rankings of universities by subject area, placed the Schulich School of Law at 89th – rising 11 spots from last year – an indicator of Dalhousie’s status as one of the best universities in the world for law degrees.
“We’re pleased to be recognized again in the Times Higher Education subject ranking for law schools, and to see that we have moved up in the rankings,” says Schulich Law Dean Sarah Harding. “We are very proud of our strong reputation and remain committed to earning it every day through teaching, research, innovation, and public service.”
Law was the highest-ranked subject of all Dalhousie’s programs by the THE rankings. It is the sixth time the law school has achieved a spot among the top 100 since the list debuted in 2018.
The annual subject ranking covers 11 disciplines and 31 individual subjects; its methodology uses tailored weightings, unique thresholds, and recalibrations to evaluate each institution's subjects across five pillars: Teaching, Research Environment, Research Quality, International Outlook, and Industry.
