ESS Student Showcase

Wondering what you’ll learn in our SUST courses? We're excited to showcase some of the great work our Environment, Sustainability and Society (ESS) students have created.

ESS Honours thesis projects

Each year, our 4th-year ESS Honours students research and write honours thesis projects on a sustainability topic of their choice, summarized in an accompanying poster.

“What the SUST...” podcast

From 2022 to 2024, student teams in the ESS Capstone course (SUST 4001/4002) developed and produced a student-led sustainability podcast for the College of Sustainability. Listen to an episode below:

Two smiling students with headphones sit facing each other over a microphone in a recording studio.

Art, environment, and the Canadian North

Check out some of the artwork created by students in SUST 3106: The Canadian North: Environmental Change and Challenges!

A painting of a stylized wolf howling into a snowy night.
Two paintings hang on the wall: A stylized caribou examines a white paved road, and a small human figure walks through a swirling, snowy landscape.
Six paintings hang together on a wall, with images including an icy Arctic sunrise/sunset, a black silhouetted fish skeleton, and a pair of hands guiding a trail of animal figures and bright coloured light through a dark sky.
