Dalhousie’s Department of Economics and the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE) in Beijing, China have a student exchange program open to undergraduate and graduate students in Economics at Dalhousie.
Dalhousie students going to UIBE may be either undergraduate or graduate students in economics. Graduate students must have completed at least one semester of graduate work at Dalhousie before their period of study at UIBE. Undergraduate students must be in at least their second year of study and typically will be in their third year of study at Dalhousie. Dalhousie students will have access to all courses at UIBE (to a limit of 4 courses per semester) taught in English, as long as the Dalhousie students meet the prerequisites for these courses. Dalhousie students will also have access, without charge, to a 3-hour per week Survival Chinese course offered at UIBE. UIBE has housing available on campus for foreign students.
Dalhousie students accepted to the program may be eligible for financial assistance through the Study/Work International Fund administered by the International Centre. Information about international students at UIBE can be obtained from UIBE’s Exchange Services. The Department of Political Science and the School of Business at Dalhousie also participate in this program. Interested students from those programs should consult their own department/school for further information.
