Faculty & Staff

With 14 professors and 8 instructors, we are a relatively small department by both Faculty of Science and Canadian standards. Nevertheless, our considerable strengths in Environmental, Tectonics and Earth Surface Processes have brought us national and international recognition. These are complemented by concentrations in fields as diverse as ecology, health, geochronology, petroleum geoscience, Arctic geology, mineral deposits, seismology, and numerical and analogue modeling. We anticipate shifts in some of these areas of special emphasis over the next few years in response to recent and anticipated retirements and appointments.

Our department benefits from collaboration with a number of Adjunct from nearby institutions. These valued colleagues co-supervise graduate and honours students, offer lectures, seminars, and workshops, and contribute to the department in many other important ways.
