Emma, a fourth-year Marine Biology student, was the Canadian delegate for the Our Ocean Youth Ambassadors program, which is run by the U.S. Department of State. She spent two weeks travelling from San Francisco to New Hampshire to Washington, D.C., learning about marine protection initiatives and policy.

The first few weeks of university can be a period of adjustment for students, who are acclimatizing to new ways of learning and living. But for first-year student Linxi Zhang, the leap into student life hardly compares to the leap she made across the globe from her home country of China.
