Science As Art Calendar

The beauty of art and science

The Faculty of Science has produced the Science As Art calendar for over 13 years. It’s a collection of striking photographs and images that encourage people to recognize the beauty of science taking place in labs, field work, daily routines and travels. Each year, alumni, faculty, staff and students submit their own works of science art for use in the calendar, which is then mailed to over 8,000 Dal Science alumni.

2024 Science As Art Calendar

Below are the top 13 photo entries for the 2024 Science As Art Calendar.  This year’s cover winning shot is Sleeping through a Sandstorm. The photo was submitted by Nicole Harrington (BSc’22, Marine Biology), currently a MSc candidate studying Marine Ecology at Dalhousie University. Read our Dal News story to learn about what inspired Nicole to capture the photo during a research trip to Sable Island, Nova Scotia.

Calendars are available for purchase for $15.00 and can be ordered by contacting science@dal.ca. All proceeds from the calendar support the Science Student Experience Fund.
