The Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University has once again been recognized as one of the top 100 places in the world to study law in the latest edition of the Times Higher Education (THE) 2026 World University Rankings by Subject.
This year’s THE rankings placed the Schulich School of Law in 85th position, rising four spots from last year and 15 spots since 2024; it also ranked Dalhousie sixth among Canada’s top 10 law schools.
“We’re pleased to be recognized yet again in the top 100 law schools in the Times Higher Education subject rankings. We are particularly proud to see that we have moved up for the second year in a row,” says Schulich Law Dean Sarah Harding (LLB '89). “This is a wonderful recognition of our commitment to top-notch research, teaching, and public service.”
This is the fourth consecutive year that the Schulich School of Law has earned a spot in the THE’s top 100 law schools and the seventh time since the list debuted in 2018.
The annual THE subject ranking, one of the most-watched global rankings of universities by subject area, covers 11 disciplines and 31 individual subjects; its methodology uses tailored weightings, unique thresholds, and recalibrations to evaluate each institution's subjects across five pillars: Teaching, Research Environment, Research Quality, International Outlook, and Industry.
