When Bill C-92, An Act Respecting First Nations, Inuit and Métis Children, Youth and Families, became law in June of 2019, Professor Naiomi Metallic saw that her years of research and advocacy into improving the welfare of Indigenous children in Canada were finally crystallizing.

When third-year student Hilary Angrove moved from Calgary to attend Schulich Law, she discovered that the country swing dancing that was so popular in her hometown didn't exist in Halifax. She and her partner Mark Taylor started Coastal Country Halifax to build a country swing community here.
