Lawrence T. Hancock Scholarship

Purpose:

To provide an annual scholarship to a student in the MSW program, who achieves high academic standing and shows promise of leadership and service as exemplified in Dr. L. T. Hancock’s work. The Hancock Scholarship was established to honour Dr. Lawrence T. Hancock for his devoted work as the first full time Director of the School of Social Work, a position he held for 24 years, and for his service to the profession and community.

Conditions:

Earnings from the fund will be used to provide an annual scholarship to a student enrolled in the MSW program at the School of Social Work at Dalhousie University. The recipient of the Hancock Scholarship will have demonstrated a high level of academic achievement and the potential for leadership in the field of social work. The earnings available for spending annually will be determined by the Endowment Management policy as approved by the Board of Governors of the University. If in any given year there are no applicants who meet the requirements as specified, the earnings for that year will be added to the capital of the fund.
