Kinesiology Students Compete in Three Minute Thesis Competition

Posted by Trudi Smith on March 25, 2013 in Students

The seven finalists (left to right): André Forget (Department of English), Weixi Shu (Faculty of Agriculture), Jacob Cookey (Clinical Science), Philippe Magown (Department of Medical Neuroscience), Babak Razaghi (Department of Microbiology and Immunology), Audrey Prayal-Brown (Department of Kinesiology), Jean Burrows (Department of Kinesiology)

Kinesiology graduate students Jean Burrows, Audrey Prayal-Brown and Luke Martelli recently competed in the Three Minute Thesis (3MT™) competition sponsored by the Dalhousie Association of Graduate Students and the Faculty of Graduate Studies.  The Three Minute Thesis (3MT™) is a skills development activity which challenges thesis-based graduate students to explain their research project to a non-specialist audience in just three minutes.

Jean Burrows and Audrey Prayal-Brown made it to the finals of the competition, held on March 7th, finishing first out of thirteen to fifteen competitors in their respective heats.  Kinesiology was well represented in the finals, with Audrey and Jean being two out of seven final competitors from across the University.

Although neither walked away with the grand prize, a $1000 scholarship, both did an outstanding job of presenting.  To learn more about the Three Minute Thesis (3MT™) read the Dal News story.
