For Preceptors

Clinical Education~Support for Preceptors

A preceptor is an experienced practitioner who agrees to supervise a student in a clinical setting.  Your role as preceptor is invaluable to the success of the Dalhousie School of Health Sciences program.  Acting as a preceptor provides you with the opportunity to demonstrate knowledge and clinical skills while guiding students in their learning.

You can prepare for the arrival of your student by reviewing the School website (www.dal.ca/shs), reading the course outline, and becoming familiar with the students' learning objectives.  You can seek further development of your preceptor skills by reviewing information about Practice Education in the Faculty of Health and by completing the Preceptor e-Learning Course.

The Clinical Coordinator or Professor of Record are available to provide you with additional support in your role as preceptor.
