Female Leaders in Academia

Female Leaders in Academia is a new program at the Faculty of Agriculture that is open to all female students (graduate and undergraduate) who are interested in exploring options and gaining skills to advance their careers in academia in a vertical manner to either a Faculty or administrative leadership position.

Please join us on the first Tuesday of every month in the CA Douglas room in Cumming Hall from 2-4

-to meet female mentors and join a supportive network of women on campus

- hear how some of Dalhousie’s female leaders have found their own ways to balance work/family life

-to gain better negotiation, communication and leadership skills

-to take part in book club discussions about academia, leadership, motherhood and any other topics you choose to explore

-to participate in activities that promote science to younger students in the Truro area

Please join us for the inaugural meeting of Female Leaders in Academia on Tuesday November 4th in the CA Douglas Room.

November 4 2014- Presentation by the Dr. Tamara Franz-Odendaal  the Atlantic Canada NSERC WISE ATLANTIC Chair (Women in Science and Engineering). Dr. Franz-Odendaal will discuss the current status of female academics within  the fields of science and engineering  in Canada and what we need to do to ensure more female students stay on the track to accomplish their career goals.
