Undergraduate Advising Survey Invitation

Posted by Stephanie Rogers on April 23, 2024 in News

Dalhousie is engaging in the development of an undergraduate advising framework as part of the Third Century Promise and would like to invite you to complete the following survey to better understand undergraduate advising across the institution: Advising Framework Feedback (

The purpose of this survey is to help us learn more about how undergraduate advising works across the institution, how we can foster a community of practice, and facilitate a more cohesive and streamlined approach to supporting students.

For the purpose of this survey, we have defined advising as any support/guidance provided to students as they navigate their academic experience at Dalhousie. All questions are optional, and the survey should take about 15 mins to complete.  Please note that we are not looking to evaluate or assess the different roles and responsibilities; our focus is to understand how you support students.

First year and returning students completed a similar survey in March 2024.  We had a fantastic response to the student survey and are hoping for a similar response from advisors!  The results of both the student survey and this survey will be shared more broadly with the advising community and will serve as the springboard for the development of the advising framework.

Also, please feel free to forward the survey to ensure a wider reach! We will also be doing some targeted emails, outreach, and follow up meetings so please excuse any duplicated requests that might come your way.

This project is sponsored by Rick Ezekiel, Vice-Provost Student Affairs, and Leslie Phillmore, Associate Vice-President Academic and co-chaired by Patricia Laws, Assistant Dean, Student Affairs, Faculty of Science and Karen McCrank, Director Student Success, Student Affairs.
