Faculty of Agriculture

Dalhousie's discussions about innovating in our program design, delivery modes and teaching methods kicked off on November 13, 2012, in Halifax and Truro. DALVision 2020: Senate Forum on Undergraduate Education was held with over 300 students, faculty and staff as a part of the discussion – along with many more who watched the live webcast.

The Forum's goals enabled discussions about:

  • what undergraduate education should look like in the coming years, by 2020 and beyond
  • what opportunities the university can pursue to achieve this vision
  • what challenges and obstacles will need to be addressed
  • the development of a road map that will guide the University to the forefront of academic innovation and an enriched undergraduate learning experience

The conversation will continue over the coming months at Dal with the Academic Innovation initiative.

Goals of DALVision 2020:
MainGoalsFooter
  1. To foster idea-sharing among faculty, staff and students from all four campuses around the topic of undergraduate education.
  2. To underscore Senate's and Senior Administration's commitment to the ongoing evolution and development of undergraduate programming and modes of delivery, while retaining and building upon successful current approaches.
  3. To kick-start what will be a longer-term process, led by the Vice-President Academic's office, and supported by Senate, of fostering a stronger culture of deliberate academic planning, allowing for innovative risk taking, and including careful evaluation and evidence-based decision making.
