Cameron Penny’s fundraising success with his peers in Dal’s Golden Key Society helped bring Rick Mercer to campus for an episode of his show airing this Tuesday. But that’s just one example of Cameron’s continuing efforts to make a difference by giving back.

For the second year in a row, a student team from the Faculty of Agriculture has won the Junior Design category of the Canadian Engineering Competition. The team of four took home top prize for its cargo handler prototype.

A crowdfunding campaign is underway to support a new emergency microbursary program at Dalhousie, one that will offer small bursaries of up to $500 for first- and second-year students with urgent or unexpected financial needs. The campaign’s first donors: Dalhousie President Richard Florizone and his wife, Dr. Mona Holmlund, with a personal commitment of $50,000 in matching funds.

Two Dal students brought several local experts to campus last week for a panel on the #MeToo movement and its potential to bring positive change around issues of sexual harassment and gender discrimination.
