About the Offer

Offer Deadline

The deadline by which you must accept this offer is outlined in the offer letter. Any offer not accepted or declined by this date will be considered expired and the seat offered to someone else. As such, if you have any questions, please reach out well in advance of this deadline.

Offer Acceptance

To accept the offer, you are required to pay a non-refundable deposit of $500 for domestic students. This deposit will be applied to your tuition fees in September.  Once your deposit has been processed by the university, you will receive a confirmation of acceptance from our admissions office.  Please note that if you pay your deposit close to the offer deadline you may not receive our confirmation until after the deadline has passed.  Rest assured that as long as your deposit is paid on or before the offer deadline, the offer is considered accepted and your seat secured.

International candidates, or those being considered for a combined program may have different deposit requirements.  If you are applying to a combined program, please reach out to the admissions office to learn more.

Deposits may not be required from candidates accepted from the waitlist.  Please refer to your offer letter for instructions on how to accept the offer of admission in these cases.

Deposits can be paid through the application status portal.

Please note that student numbers (often called B00# or "boo" numbers) are generated after your offer has been accepted and will be provided upon the confirmation of acceptance letter.

About the Law School

There are many ways that you can customize your legal education and student experience at the Schulich School of Law: with exchanges, specializations, law societies, and experiential learning opportunities, to name a very few. While we could go on (and we are more than happy to), instead, we would advise you to check out our online viewbook for a more in depth look at what Schulich Law offers.

Check our our digital viewbook.

You are also encouraged to reach out to one of our student ambassadors with any questions you may have about the student perspective.  Student law ambassadors can be reached here: law.admissions@dal.ca.

Weldon's Welcome

Every year we hold events for incoming students, to give them an opportunity before their offer deadline to experience lectures, events, talk to current students and faculty and engage with the Schulich community.

We will be hosting online events throughout the winter/spring, as well as an in person event in March (called Weldon Welcome Days).

For the in-person Weldon Welcome Days event, in order to make it easier for those travelling from outside Nova Scotia, we do offer a travel subsidy, depending on where one is travelling from.  The amounts available are listed below.

Alberta 650
British Columbia 700

New Brunswick 150

Information about the Weldon Welcome events are sent out after receipt of an offer, starting at the end of December.

Combined Degree Programs

We have long-standing partnerships with four of Dalhousie's graduate programs, allowing students to complete a Juris Doctor (JD) and a specialist Masters degree at the same time and in one year less than it would take you to complete both degrees separately.

  • JD/Masters of Business Administration (MBA)
  • JD/Masters of Health Administration (MHA)
  • JD/Masters of Information (MI)
  • JD/Masters of Public Administration (MPA)

If you have applied or have been accepted for one of the combined program partners please reach out to law.admissions@dal.ca to discuss how this influences your acceptance process and next steps.

If you have not yet applied but are interested in learning more about pursuing a combined degree, please see our Combined Degree Program page and reach out.

Academic Information

Classes are expected to begin on September 8, 2026. Details about the dates for the 2026-27 academic year can be found here once confirmed by Dalhousie.

Academic Calendar

We offer nearly 200 courses in traditional and emerging areas of the law.

Law school curriculum is ever changing, and Dalhousie regularly reviews and updates course offerings to ensure we have the most up-to-date legal education available. As such, please be mindful of this when reviewing the calendar and know that some course availability may change during your time at the Schulich School of Law.

Please note that all first year students have the same mandatory, foundation law courses.

If you require accommodation for your class schedule, our accommodations office is happy to work with you prior to first year registration in July.
