Dr. Lois Jackson has received the Patricia Cleave Award for Outstanding Leadership in recognition of her role in the transformation of the Atlantic Health Promtion Research Centre into the Healthy Populations Institute.
Established in 2014, the award recognizes individuals who have shown exceptional leadership that results in substantial benefit to the Faculty as a whole. Lois' leadership in the transformation of the Atlantic Health Promotion Research Centre through a transparent, inclusive and collaborative process has more than fulfilled this mandate.
Affiliated with the AHPRC since 2000, Lois became Scientific Director in 2010 and began the restructing process following a Senate review of the Centre in 2011. Not only has the name been changed to the Healthy Populations Institute, the organization has now broadened it's focus around four clearly identified research clusters and expanded opportunities for collaboration and engagement from faculty and community members.
As Lois steps down from her position as Scientific Director at the end of June, she leaves behind a revitalized Institute that promises to make a difference in improving the health and well-being of individuals and communities across the region.
