On Tuesday November 24, Dalhousie’s School of Nursing will launch the Centre for Transformative Nursing and Health Research (CTNHR), the first nursing-led research centre in Atlantic Canada.  The mission of the Centre is to undertake collaborative, interprofessional research aimed at transforming health care and improving health and well-being.

“This new Centre will allow the School of Nursing to build on our existing research partnerships—and will strengthen our ability to work on larger collaborative projects,” says Director Dr. Gail Tomblin Murphy.   “Our researchers are already having an impact, and the Centre will help us expand the work we are doing to improve care for patients in our province, across Canada, and internationally.”

The Centre for Transformative Nursing and Health Research is a Dalhousie Senate-designated research centre.  It will focus on four key research areas:  the health needs of people; health workforce and health systems planning; marginalized populations and health equity; and knowledge translation.  The CTNHR will coordinate interprofessional research teams at Dalhousie to work in partnership with other universities, the health care sector, and governments, and will position School of Nursing graduates to be leaders in health system change.
