Congratulations to Jacqueline Gahagan (School of Health and Human Performance) on receiving the Canadian Public Health Association (CPHA) Ron Draper Health Promotion Award.  The award is presented each year to an individual, group or organization engaged in community work who has made a significant contribution to health promotion.

Dr. Gahagan is receiving this award in recognition of her contributions to health promotion research and advocacy at the municipal, provincial and national levels through her work in understanding the key determinants of HIV exposure and the health needs of persons living with HIV/AIDS.  She has also worked to support the health needs of LGBTQ populations in Nova Scotia through engaging government to create environments that support health through coordinated research, policy and community level action.  Dr. Gahagan serves on the Ministerial Council on AIDS, the Board of Directors for the Public Health Association of Nova Scotia and the Canadian Public Health Association.

Dr. Gahagan was presented with her award on May 25, 2015 at the Canadian Public Health Association Annual Conference in Vancouver.
