On March 23 - 24, the "Wisdom 2 Action" event hosted in Calgary by Dalhousie's Children and Youth in Challenging Contexts Network (CYCC) brought together community and religious leaders, youth workers, law enforcement officials and government representatives from across Canada to share best practices for promoting the resilience of youth against violent extremism.
Inspired by a research project led by the CYCC's Michael Ungar and Amarnath Amarasingham, the event looked at collaborative, community-based approaches - including youth engagement, mentorship and the effective use of the online world - to help youth avoid radicalization and choose a more peaceful path.
More information on the event and its outcomes can be found in the "Wisdom 2 Action: Calgary" report launched today, and on the CYCC website.
