Canadian Academy of Health Sciences (CAHS) presents report at Dalhousie event
On December 1, 2014, an event was held at Dalhousie to discuss the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences (CAHS) report "Optimizing Scopes of Practice: New models of care for a new health care system." Dr. Tom Marrie, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and past president of the CAHS opened the event with remarks on the development and assessment of the report, which he provided leadership to during his presidency. Dr. Ingrid Sketris (Pharmacy), who was a member of the expert panel appointed by the CAHS to develop the report, also gave remarks and introduced Dr. Ivy Bourgeault (University of Ottawa). As project team lead, Dr. Bourgeault presented the report and it's recommendations. The event concluded with a panel discussion led by Dr. Kathleen MacMillan, Director of Dalhousie's School of Nursing, engaging with an audience of academics, students, government decision makers, health care professionals and professiona regulators.
