On Wednesday, June 4, a reception was held to thank Dr. Anita Unruh for her service to the Faculty of Health Professions as she steps down from her position as Associate Dean (Research & Academic).  Colleagues and friends from across the university and the wider health community gathered to recognize Anita’s achievements and wish her well as she moves to the next phase of her career.

This was an opportunity for all of us to thank Anita and highlight her achievements as Associate Dean and the lasting positive impact of her initiatives.  These included the development of a Research strategic plan for the Faculty – following extensive consultation and a detailed analysis of the research environment – and Anita’s effectiveness as an ambassador for the Faculty, strengthening relationships with stakeholders in the University research community, our health service delivery partners and key personnel in the research grants community and charity sector.

Anita’s wise counsel and advice have been invaluable to me as Dean on the many issues that come into our office on a regular basis. Anita is reflective and thoughtful and I have benefited immensely from her input.

On behalf of the Faculty of Health Professions I would like to thank Anita for her outstanding leadership as Associate Dean.
