The Chinese Scholarship Council (CSC) provides scholarships to students intending to pursue doctoral studies abroad. Dalhousie is a preferred host institution for CSC scholarship holders, with over a decade of experience supporting students funded through the CSC program.

CSC provides up to four years of funding for up to 20 new PhD students each year, during which time each student's Dalhousie supervisor will also provide funding to cover tuition & incidental fees.

Eligibility criteria

The CSC online application period typically opens in March of each year. As part of the CSC application process, you are required to be accepted into a Dalhousie PhD program with all academic and English language requirements having been met. Your admission may be conditional upon successful receipt of the CSC scholarship.

Application overview

Create an account in the Faculty of Graduate Studies Online Scholarship Platform and complete the short application form for CSC students looking to complete their PhD at Dalhousie University (follow this path: FGS Bursaries and Grants, then Partner Scholarships and External Awards, then Chinese Scholarship Council - Completing your PhD at Dalhousie). Your application and an electronic response from your prospective Dalhousie supervisor must be received by March 30th.
