Are you ready for Homecoming 2019?
The Faculty of Dentistry Homecoming 2019 takes place September 25-28 and offers something for everyone--alumni, faculty, students, and families. It’s not too late to make your plans!
Homecoming 2019 kicks off on September 25 with the annual JD McLean Lecture. The JD McLean Lecture is a longstanding tradition in the Dalhousie Faculty of Dentistry that began in 2004 in honour of former dean, Dr. James D. McLean. He believed that it is important for healthcare professionals to learn from leaders in fields outside dentistry.
Past speakers have included neuroscientist Dr. Ivar Mendes, NHL hockey star Bobby Smith, Senator Jim Munson, and former president of Acadia University Ray Ivany.
This year’s guest lecturer is Jean-Michel Blais, retired chief of Halifax Regional Police. Mr. Blais will share his experience of policing and talk about applying leadership skills to all aspects of life.
On September 26, the Faculty welcomes our incoming dental hygiene and dentistry students to the profession at its annual White Coat Ceremony. At this special event our new students are presented with their white clinic coats, recite the oath of professionalism, and accept the ethical and professional responsibilities of the oral healthcare profession. All are invited to attend.
Saturday, September 28 is a full day of continuing education, followed by a special Homecoming Live@5 social event in The Cavity.
The Homecoming CE Day gives you the opportunity to gain six CE lecture hours at a reduced rate, with continental breakfast and lunch included.
In the morning session, listen to Drs. Kevin MacDonald and Kale Wudrich explain how to manage mucogingival defects, including surgical techniques.
After lunch, Drs. Danny Boyd and Richard Price will talk about research-based dentistry. Full course information.
We look forward to welcoming you back to the Faculty of Dentistry. Please join us for as many events as you are able!
