Location: Department of Plant, Food, and Environmental Sciences, Faculty of Agriculture, Dalhousie University, Truro, Nova Scotia, Canada
Project: Food Bioactives Research Program of Dalhousie University (dal.ca/fbrp) is initiating a new research project on developing and assessing plant food-derived natural health products.
The project is sponsored by an internationally-recognized natural products company in Europe. In general, the interdisciplinary research activities include optimization of extraction and isolation of a group of phytochemicals from a plant-based food, analytical chemistry, biochemical and cell-based assays, and product development and assessment. Opportunity exists for close interactions and collaborative research activities with the industry partner.
Qualifications: Applicants must hold a B.Sc. honors degree in biochemistry, chemistry, food chemistry or related discipline and meet admission requirements to the M.Sc./Ph.D. program of the Faculty of Agriculture. Interest and knowledge about natural product chemistry, functional foods & nutraceuticals, and/or analytical chemistry would be a strong asset. Starting Date: Open to start immediately.
Stipend: Minimum of $23,000/year and opportunities for graduate studies scholarships
