Join us on March 15th from 4-5pm in Cox 260 for cake, coffee and celebration of our educational community!

The World University Service of Canada (WUSC), a national charity organization supporting accessible education for international disadvantaged youth, is celebrating its 30th anniversary on the Dalhousie Agricultural Campus.

Since sponsoring its first refugee student to attend the Truro campus in 1985, the agricultural campus’s WUSC Club has successfully supported 25 refugee students through post-secondary education. The agricultural campus is currently hosting two students through this program.

Students have come from such diverse countries as Uganda, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Somalia, Pakistan, South Sudan, and Burundi. With WUSC’s support, all of these students were able to acquire Canadian citizenship and have gone on to pursue active lives and meaningful careers in banking, nursing, agriculture, business, the United Nations, and Health Canada.

Some of these students have gone on to sponsors family members to join them in Canada, and most are married with children of their own. Most of all, every student is happy to have had the opportunity to come to Canada, to have an education and contribute back to their communities.

To celebrate the 30th anniversary, WUSC invites all students, faculty and staff to a birthday party on Tuesday March 15th from 4-5pm in Cox 260. Cake, coffee and juice will be in abundance and there will be a unique opportunity to hear from a current student on how the program has impacted his life!

Come celebrate the community that our campus has created for our unique international students!
