To book the B400 classroom, please contact Michelle Soucy at 494-6641 or Michelle.Soucy@dal.ca.

Equipment

All groups have access to the following in-house equipment:

  • Movable tables and chairs
  • Desktop computer (1)
  • Built-in projector
  • Built-in speakers
  • White boards
  • Portable video-conference unit

If the requirements exceed the inventory then it becomes the responsibility of client to make alternative arrangements through AV Services (902-494-3893).

Use of room, including in-house equipment

The CLT is responsible for the following client set-up and support:

  • Daily maintenance of in-house equipment.
  • Video-conference set-up and test of the unit.  The client must be present at this time. Arrangements for set-up and/or testing of the video conference unit must be conducted at minimum 20 minutes prior to the event in which the unit is being used or at a scheduled time as laid out in the Agreement.

The client is responsible for the following:

  • Set-up and shut-down of in-house AV equipment.
  • Booking and setting up AV equipment that exceeds the B400 inventory.
  • Rearrangement of tables and chairs.    The standard set-up of the room is a u-shape and must be put back to this set-up.
  • Arranging catering from Food Services.  Delivery and pick-up of catering must be completed during the scheduled room booking time.
  • The client is responsible for cleaning the B400 classroom following the event.  This includes, but limited to, taking down any posters or sheet from the wall, wiping down the white boards, clearing the tables of any debris. The CLT has provided garbage, paper and plastic recycling, and organic waste bins, which must be used appropriately.

Access and closure of B400 classroom

Due to the security measures required for B400, the room must not be left unattended, while unlocked, at any time.  Entry to the classroom requires a key and alarm code, if the client does not have access to these, the assistance of the CLT will be required.

The CLT is responsible for the following:

  • Granting access to the room.  The CLT will meet the client at B400 at a scheduled time as laid out in the Agreement, no less than 10 minutes prior to the event.  Due to security reasons, if the client is not present at the scheduled time, the room will be locked and the client must contact the CLT (494-1622) to gain access.
  • Resetting the alarm, once client is finished with the room.

The client is responsible for the following:

  • Turning off the lights, when finished with the room.
  • Shutting both of the double doors, when finished with the room.  All doors within the B400 classroom automatically lock, with the exception of the inside, double doors that lead to the classroom.

General conditions

At any time should the premises become unfit for, or incapable of access, from any cause whatsoever, including but not limited to scheduled renovations or delays of renovations, then this agreement, at the option of the Centre for Learning and Teaching, will become null and void.  Under these circumstances, CLT is responsible for contacting the client to cancel or reschedule the room booking.

The CLT adheres to the Dalhousie University Smoke Free/Scent Free program.  The CLT asks that students, faculty, staff, and visitors refrain from using or burning scented products while using the B400 classroom.

Failure to adhere to the policies/regulations of the Centre for Learning and Teaching and/or Dalhousie University may result in the termination of the present activity and potential loss of opportunity to book the room in the future.
