Parking your bikes on campus

Over 1,040 bike spots and over 470 bike racks are located throughout the Studley, Carleton, Sexton, and Agricultural Campuses. All new buildings have bike facilities, including showers and indoor/outdoor bike racks. Bike parking spots for all campuses can be found on the following maps. Students are encouraged to keep the sidewalks clear for pedestrian access.

Bike Loan Program

Bikes and helmets can be loaned from the Campus Bike Centre (Studley Gym) for Halifax Campuses and the Athletics Centre on the Agricultural Campus.

You can follow @bikeatdal on Instagram to know about their open hours and other updates. Cyclists can also use the space and tools provided at the Bike Centre to repair their bikes.

Bike Loan Process:

  1. Show your Dal card;
  2. Complete the waiver;
  3. Review bike loan program info sheet;
  4. Ride away!

Dalhousie University will remove from its property any bicycle considered to be an abandoned bicycle in order to maintain adequate, safe, and accessible bicycle parking. All removed bicycles will remain in storage for a period of 30 days, during which time they may be claimed by their owner. Should a bicycle not be claimed within the 30 days allotted, Dalhousie University will donate or recycle the bicycle. If your bike was collected, please contact rethink@dal.ca.

Bike Rooms

Secure Parking Areas (SPAs) are secure rooms that provide users peace of mind. Each room has bike racks, potential lockers, and connected or nearby shower/bathroom facilities.

Each SPA provides students, staff or faculty who regularly commute by bicycle, to this facility, with an extra level of security when parking their bikes. To gain access to these facilities, you must have swipe card access to the SPA space, granted by the building administrator. Visit the SmartTrip website for more information.

Note for E-Scooter users: When you are done with your e-scooter, you can leave it at the parking locations designated by your rental company. Park your e-scooter out-of-the-way. Do not block sidewalks, or entrances to businesses or residences. Find a spot that will keep the e-scooter out of risk of damage and doesn’t interfere with members of the public. (HFX e-Scooters).
