Earlier this week, the first round of Dal’s annual 3 Minute Thesis (3MT) competition saw 42 graduate students compete for a spot in the upcoming finals, with 10 selected to move forward.
The 3MT finals are set to take place next Tuesday, March 19 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the McInnes Room in the Dalhousie Student Union Building. The event will challenge the competitors to present their research to a non-specialist audience in three engaging minutes or less, using only one static PowerPoint slide as a visual aid. They're competing for a chance to win cash prizes and compete at the Eastern regionals at the Institut national de la recherche scientifique in Quebec.
Open to members of the Dal community and beyond, the finals will showcase the impactful and varied work graduate students from across the university are engaged in — from improving battery sustainability by limiting charging, to access and inclusion within childcare and early learning for children with disabilities in Nova Scotia.
